A Hidden Gem
My partner and I had a lovely time at The CB Inn. Our room had an amazing picture postcard view of the Dales and the breakfast was excellent. We look forward to returning soon!

Well Worth A Visit
We have been here many times and hope to return many more. The accommodation is very comfortable, the super food is imaginative and breakfasts belt bustingly good, the beer and wines selection is comprehensive and the team of staff willing, friendly and helpful. The final bonus is the location, stunning and well situated for gentle or strenuous rambles in the glorious Dales.

Lovely Room
The room was very nice , quiet and the bed was comfortable. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and the little bottles of milk for tea and coffee In the fridge on the landing were a good idea. The food was overpriced for what we got, the burger I had on the first night was chewy and had gristle in it. The plough mans on the second night wasn\'t good value for money. The 3 types of cheese were all very strong, the salad had a strange dressing on it and the bread was stale. The service at breakfast both mornings wasn\'t too good, we were sat down for a good 10 minutes and in the end had to ask to order our food. As a group we enjoyed our stay at the CB inn but the food and the service needs improvement and the drinks were very expensive . Free papers were advertised on the website but when I asked for a paper on the Sunday I was given Saturday\'s paper out of the bin

Thanks For A Great Few Days
Booked at very short notice- we were both feeling frazzled and needed a break. The hotel is in such a lovely spot surrounded by beautiful countryside and the wildflowers were spectacular. The thing that sets the CB inn apart though is the staff. Everyone is friendly and chatty and all very knowledgeable. Tried a few different gins on the recommendation of the barman which probably added to our enjoyment. We will be back again - thanks for all your hard work

Expectations Fulfilled
We had a wonderful stay at the Inn. It sets out to provide quality accommodation, very good food and a friendly atmosphere in one of the most beautiful parts of the Yorkshire Dales - and succeeds on every count.

Perhaps 8.30 breakfast is too lazy a start for this part of the world !

Perfect Stay
Booked one nights stay at the CB Inn at the very last minute as another hotel had let us down. Couldn\'t have been happier with our choice. From the first phone call to book to checking out the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was huge and I would defy anyone to find a better view in the dales. Beer and food were both excellent and my husband declared his kipper to be the best he had ever tasted! Quite an accolade. We have just rented a house locally as we are moving to the area so the CB Inn will be our local.

Positively ecstatic!

Easter Break
We\'ve been here many times, and never been disappointed.Great food, good company, wonderful views from the bedroom. There\'s a quiet lounge if you just want to read or play Scrabble. Little touches like fresh milk for your tea being in a handy fridge, instead of having to use UHT cartons, make this our regular mini-break destination. Can\'t wait to go again.

A Lovely Celebratory Weekend
The hotel is in a superb location with wonderful views of Arkengarthdale. Only a short distance away, the village of Reeth is a well-known centre for walking in Swaledale, - though of course there is plenty of walking in Arkengarthdale itself.

We found the hotel to be very welcoming in all respects, - friendly, helpful staff, cosy public rooms (including a roaring log fire in the bar area) and comfortable bedrooms.

We had a bedroom which had a very large comfortable bed and all the amenities you could want. And when we opened the curtains in the morning, there were gorgeous views outside the windows.

All meals (breakfasts and dinners) were of excellent quality, served by attentive staff. As our stay was to help celebrate an important family occasion, we were delighted to be able to experience these meals, - eating excellent food, drinking good wine, in convivial surroundings.

All-in-all, it was a wonderful weekend and we fully intend to return before too long.

Barnard Castle - Co. Durham - Castle

Distance 9.04 miles (14.46 km)
Perched high atop a steep bank overlooking the River Tees, Barnard Castle remains an imposing sight. It was damaged in 1630 when Sir Henry Vane bought it to use its stone to rebuild his preferred residence, Raby Castle. The foundations date back to the 12th century. Once one of the largest castles in northern England, it was also the principal residence of the Baliol family and a major power base in the many conflicts between the English and Scottish crowns, the rebellious nobles and the church.
